Well, the crazy plan to go Castleing on a Monday night when I still have to wake up first thing in the morning worked out surprisingly well, and was a ton of fun!

Rat and I met Kat outside of the herald trib. office (after dinner with James at Tropical Thai,) and drove up to Ybor. Got in, wandered around for a while convinceing myself that I was not going to look completely silly danceing. Saw the "Kat Dow knows everyone" magic in effect, and chatted with a nice boy named Jared, who had just (as in early that evening) had a complete set of dice tattooed on his bicep. Wandered out the outside stage, and something about the music, and the light, and the tree growing in the corner to cover almost the whole dance area convinced me I wanted to dance. And I did. Madly, until I lost all my air and breath. This cycle continued with occasional breaks to rehydrate and get fresh air outside the building without the loud music and chemical fog.

But I danced like I remember danceing as a child, not caring how I look, or what anyone thought, like I was part of the music. It helped that for part of the evening I was the only one danceing in the outside area. And then when other people were danceing later, it didn't matter. Because it was the same music, and the same space, and we were all moving how we felt like moving, in our own space, but all together too. It was almost ritualistic: the costumes, the beat of the music, the lights moving in random yet purposeful displays... and I was there, danceing under the stars and the moon and the tree, surrounded by other people who were danceing to the same music, and, perhaps, the same sense of purpose, of meaning, of expressing that which one cannot express with words.

Then the music changed, and the lights turned on, an we wandered out of the clud, and stood under the street lights, talking. I gave my wrist band to a fellow who was collecting them, and Rat picked up beads from a broken necklace, and we walked out to car. some gas, and a snack later, I slepty on the ride home. when I got home at 4:30 ish I scrubbed the smoke of the night off, and fell into bed with James. I set the alarm for 8 am, but it never went off! So I woke with a start at 10, instead, and rushed into work, late. But the extra sleep was good for me, and my boss is cool enough that it wasn't a big deal.

Then I went and held signs for Planned parenthood's Free EC day, for my lunch, and came back to the office. All in all, a very rewarding but tiring night and day.
