The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- these three are easily the best Disney has EVER made. EVER. They encapsulate everything that made Disney great using just enough modern techniques to be wondrous and not unbearable.
Fantasia
Alice in Wonderland
- these two are practically stoner films, as well as being wonderfully musical and using some of the brightest and most vibrant colors ever recorded.
... and lastly ... um ...
Peter Pan
I like pirates.

Date: 2006-05-12 11:18 pm (UTC)Next tier: Snow White through Bambi is all full of classic. Cinderella, Alice, Peter Pan would all be appropriate. The Rescuers, Aladdin, Lilo and Stitch, and personally I really like The Emperor's New Groove.
Jungle Book and Aristocats are nostalgic for me, but I'm doubtful they're as significant as the others. Pocahontas, Hunchback, and Hercules, maybe I just got mature enough to not automatically love all things Disney, but I was somewhat underwhelmed with them. Mulan I like, but not enough to displace the films on the first two tiers.
Maybe I'm just crazy though.

Date: 2006-05-13 02:40 am (UTC)If you want to show six movies that represent the best and most memorable spanning the 70-year history, I'd go with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Bambi, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and Beauty and the Beast.
(On the other hand, if I had to pick the six I simply most wanted to watch, I'd be biased towards the movies that came out in my childhood: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame and again Lilo and Stitch.)
