Persephone swallows : the renn. faire
Nov. 14th, 2006 01:56 pmWell, our tent looked awesome (thanks james) and the jewelery is good...
So WTF? Saturday Colleen and I set up the tent, and were ready to go by the time the faire actually opened. And made one sale... all day long. To C and C, no less, which was awesome, but discuraging. It seemed that all the other vendors were also having problems with people not being in a buying mood. I know the enconomy is screwy right now, and no one has very much money, but it was still really hard to have sunk all this time and effort into makeing the vending thing work and totally failing at the selling things bit.
But I did get to catch part of Puke and Snot, and the Whole of the Lovely Misha and company (which is soooooooooooo cool. You should all go see it. when you come to buy my wares...)
Sunday was better. Set-up went faster, because A) Moni was helping us set up, and B) we knew what we were doing. So we sat around and made jewlery while we waited for faire to open. And worryed about rain. But it did not, so all was well.
We also sold some stuff, dan's chainmail, a couple of memoery wire bracelets and some of my necklaces. And several pairs of earrings. But unless this weekend goes way better we are not going to break anywhere near even. And as for getting my craft to pay my expenses... I laugh.
Yesterday I had lunch with the jessyka story, and got a bit of housework done, and then went with Shauna, James, and bryce to see Dead Man's Chest at the dollar theater. Ah, Johnny Depp...
Today is mostly cleaning so far, although I do intend to get more stock for next weekend made up this week, because we need it. I though we had enough... but as it sold slowly I realized that we needed lots more to make ends meet.
So that's what I've been up to. You?

Date: 2006-11-14 08:47 pm (UTC)what i've personally seen that sells the fastest at Med/Ren faires is what can be bought for under 5$ and appeals to kids/kids at heart.
sadly, that seems to sell quicker than labor intensive/quality/higher ticket items.
think: impulse buys.
i hope to see you there next weekend!
